Why Small Groups?

+ Small Groups are a tried and true way for people seeking to grow and learn to gather.

+ It is easier to be known and get to know others in a small group.

+ The small group format encourages everyone to actively participate, and when we participate, we tend to get more out of the time.

+ These kinds of gatherings have deep roots in the bible and Christian tradition.

Why is St. Michael's Doing this? Why should I do it?

+ A more joyful and engaged personal faith through coming together in small groups

+ New and renewed connections among parishioners.

+ A deeper and more lively understanding of our common life as a community of faith.

How will it work?

+ To sign-up, contact Fr. Kevin (kcaruso@stmichaelsbarrington.org) and indicate which group you want to particiapte in.  Each group will have a minimum of 4 people and a maximum of 12.

What is the time frame?

+ Introduction and launch at the January 2014 Annual Meeting.

+ First round of groups begin at the end of February (just prior to Lent).  Groups continue to form as long as there is sufficient interest and leadership.

How can I connect, nourish & grow?

+ Whether or not participating in a small group seems natural: Please consider taking part... Often doing something that makes us uncomfortable is the first step to growth. Share your ‘yes’ with Fr. Kevin Caruso, (847) 381-2323, ext. 13, or kcaruso@stmichaelsbarrington.org.

If you have questions or comments, contact your clergy, wardens or vestry members.

Faith Reflection Groups in 2014

Faith Reflection Groups are built around telling and listening to stories of faith.

Each group includes four or five parishioners, one of whom will be a trained moderator. Each group will meet five or six times for about an hour each during the next few months.

At each meeting (except the last one), one group member shares his or her experiences of and questions about God, religion, the Christian faith and the church – at his or her own comfort level.
